April 3, 2007 -- LAMAR Software has developed and delivered Actual Cost
Tracking and Reporting functionality to our customers. The Actual cost
functionality is in addition to the Standard Cost, Planned Costs, Last
Actual Cost and Average Costs that Info.Net currently made available to
the users.
Most traditional
MRP or ERP systems work with what is called Standard Costs.
These are frozen costs that are typically updated once or twice a year.
Because of the work to update thousands of part costs, this update
process was not done regularly. This meant that building cost
estimates, based on Standard Cost, might be way off depending on the
actual material and labor costs. These cost issues are more often
exposed in non-standard work such as Warranty repair and charged repair
work.
Info.Net
traditionally gave all of our users the power to coordinate the
thousands of systems, parts, shops, and skills needed to produce each
product they sell. It handles asset tracking to factory floor
scheduling, our customers now will have the information they need to
profitably deliver their products to the most demanding customers in
the world.
LAMAR Software
President Gary Halvorsen explained "Our users needed total Actual Cost
visibility of their critical business functions to produce and support
the world's finest products. Info.Net now gathers the actual cost of
the parts used to build their product and the actual labor cost of each
individual that charged time to a job".
We also track all of
the non-direct labor, so that your actual labor overhead can be easily
reported. The actual cost is tracked to the inventory unit level. This
supports tracking your actual margin on all sales.
This type of
tracking and reporting used to take hours of detailed data entry to
track. It required someone in Engineering, Purchasing, Production and
Accounts Payable to manually coordinate their data to track the actual
finished cost of a product. With Actual Cost Tracking, this information
is easily viewed with inquiries or reports.
The Info.Net
developers understood this problem and built the 'Actual Cost Tracking'
functionality using a new program library. This additional library
gives each of our material and labor transaction programs access to the
exact costs being transacted at any time. It does not require any
additional user setup or input.
Info.Net can now
report out actual costs for RMA repair or warranty jobs as well as
standard work orders, Lean production, and process environments.
